Where was Roman Holiday filmed?
William Wyler insisted on shooting in Rome itself, at a time when most Hollywood films faked their foreign cities on the backlot. The result is a love letter to the city that still works as a walking tour.
Audrey Hepburn won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her first major film role. The screenplay was by Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted at the time; his credit was only restored decades later.
